While Nancy and I were on Ischia Review website checking out things to do and things to see while on vacation in Ischia we came across boat tours. We checked out West Coast and saw that they offered various size boats and either half day or full day tours. We felt it would be a good way to find out what the island has to offer so we chose a boat for the two of us and booked a full day tour. First of all, I was impressed by the boat when Dario and his partner Ciro arrived. It was spotlessly clean with ample room to relax on a cushioned platform at the front of the boat. Both Dario and Ciro were extremely polite and professional. Dario explained to us that the boat was ours for the day and they would take us wherever we wanted. Not knowing much about the island I told him I would leave it all up to him. All I wanted was to stop in Sant 'Angelo for lunch and if he could take us to a grotto. We left the dock and he told us we could go snorkeling and swimming at any time. He had the equipment on the boat as well as beverages if we got thirsty. We passed on that and wanted to focus more on the island. After we got out of port he asked me if I wanted to drive the boat so I took over for about 20 minutes and then handed it back to Ciro. I will say that Dario is very well versed on the history of the island and highlights of Ischia. Stories of who landed there, pirates, churches, prisons, vineyards, volcanoes and on and on. So fascinating a place. We stopped in Forio for a while and he let us do some sight seeing and shopping there. Then we headed over to Sant 'Angelo where we stopped for a bite to eat and more sight seeing. He kept his promise and took us to a grotto. It was small but cool. Then there was a second one and finally a big, deep one. That made our day. I would say that Dario and Ciro were good company and fun to be with. We had several stories to share and plenty of laughter. We finally arrived back at Ischia Porto around 5 PM. We had been out since 10 AM. That was an amazing fun filled day and a lot of interesting things to learn about Ischia. If you ever plan to go to this island make sure you book a tour with West Coast and if you are lucky maybe Dario and Ciro will be your skippers.

We could not have had a better last day on Ischia thanks to West Coast Ischia Rental Boat and Captain GG (Gianluigi). The boat was beautiful, the tour at the perfect pace, and the stops well-planned. The highlight was Captain GG who is such a skilled captain maneuvering the boat in and out of the most spectacular caves and in around the picturesque shores of Ischia. He has great information about the island- just the right amount to be interesting but not boring. His much recommendation in San Angelo (Pasquale Pizza) helped us to enjoy one of the best pizzas we ate on our entire 3-week Italian journey. We ended the cruise with a swim at the base of Castelli Aragonese which was epic in every way- even introducing GG to some of our favorite music while swapping family tales. We took a full day trip with West Coast Ischia and cannot imagine a better way to spend a day on this beautiful island.

Gigi, our skipper/guide was the perfect host as we circumnavigated the island with swimming stops and discussions about the history and geology of Ischia.

Amazing service and friendly owners. Can’t recommend any higher. Rented a boat for a full day, was wonderful to explore the island from a different view. We anchored and swam a shore to Sorgeto where the thermal public baths were- they have such great recommendations on the east to follow map. Will be back next year and will certainly use them again! Taking a boat trip around the island is a must do. We had a wonderful day on the water with Vito from West Coast. Our boat was beautiful, they supplied towels & drinks. We stopped to swim 5 times and each stop was so cool. Places you wouldn’t have known existed otherwise. We also stopped for lunch at a great restaurant only accessible by boat. Wir haben ein Schlauchboot für einen Tag gemietet. Es war mit Abstand das beste Boot, dass wir je hatten. Das Boot inclusive Propeller war in einem hervorragenden Zustand und sehr sauber und verfügte über eine integrierte Dusche mit Süßwasser und eine Kühlbox mit Eis zum Kühlen der Getränke.
Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es gab eine ausführliche Einweisung und Hinweise wo man am besten Ankern und Baden kann. Jederzeit wieder!
